Recruitment Safety
Fake job and travel offers are common. These steps help you protect yourself.
Draft for review. This page is working text and must be reviewed by the business owner and a qualified adviser before launch. Items in square brackets are placeholders to be confirmed.
Warning signs
- Anyone guaranteeing a job, admission or visa. No honest recruiter can promise this.
- Requests for money before you have seen clear written terms.
- Pressure to decide or pay quickly, or to keep the offer secret.
- Offers that arrive from personal email or messaging accounts instead of an official address.
- Requests for your passport, bank details, passwords or one-time codes at an early stage.
Before you share or pay anything
- Ask for the employer or institution’s full name and check it independently.
- Ask any recruiter, including us, to explain in writing what any fee covers before you pay.
- Keep copies of messages, offers and receipts.
- Speak to someone you trust before making a decision.
